PRO snippet – tough going in Dublin

After a disappointing but interesting two days in Dublin the Senior Inter Association team find themselves in 4th place after rain washed out the final set of fixtures.

The sun drenched CYM club hosted the Friday evening game versus BLI in a match where the old cliche “defeat snatched from the jaws of victory ” comes to mind.

In a tough and evenly contested game the hosts came out with purpose and the PGL did well to hang in and eventually build an 18 shot lead. A couple of counts later and the home team were back in it and they finished strongly to snatch a 3 shot win.

The positive was that the PGL won 3 Rinks (Coleman,  Duncan and McKee) and drew another (Bennett) to gain 3 1/2 points.

The next morning Crumlin hosted the NIBA game which was played in constant heavy rain.  Once again the match was tight and the PGL had to come from behind.

Coleman, McKee and Captain Kyle all recorded rink wins but the team ran out of ends and came up 7 shots short.

Unfortunately the rain then took centre stage and the final games could not be played. At the time of going to press the arrangements for concluding the competition are not known but the points situation is as follows;

NIBA 14.  NIPBA. 8. BLI. 7 1/2.  PGL. 6 1/2.

All is not lost however and a win in their final game could give the PGL runner up spot.
