The NIPGL is delighted to congratulate Sammy Allen and Jim Baker on their well deserved induction into the World Bowls Hall of Fame.
Both men have made an extraordinary contribution to our sport, enjoying remarkable success on the world stage while inspiring generations of bowlers in Ireland and beyond.
Sammy Allen’s glittering career included three World Bowls gold medals across three different disciplines, making him one of only two men in history to achieve that feat. Alongside Commonwealth Games success, his consistency, skill and unforgettable shot making cemented his place among the game’s all-time greats.
Jim Baker’s career was defined by exceptional leadership, precision and determination. A World Indoor Champion, three-time World Bowls gold medallist and inspirational skip, he has also left a lasting legacy through his coaching, mentoring and service to the sport.
Their shared triumphs including Ireland’s historic World Bowls triples gold in 1984 and fours gold in 1988 remain among the greatest achievements in Irish bowls history.
Everyone at the NIPGL extends our warmest congratulations to Sammy and Jim on this richly deserved honour. Their induction into the World Bowls Hall of Fame is a fitting recognition of two outstanding careers and a proud moment for Irish bowls.
